A browser add-on that allows you to quickly access maps of thousands of locations, Quick Maps for Chrome is a program that will save you a lot of time when you are multitasking.

The Quick Maps for Chrome Add-On

The vast array of technology we have available at our fingertips in this modern age is simply amazing, and electronic maps are certainly no exception. Not only are phone books becoming obsolete but also are those inconvenient and often-wrong paper maps that our parents used. With Google Maps, you literally have the entire world on your computer, and you can instantly find maps and directions to practically any location you have in mind. In addition, with the Quick Maps for Chrome add-on, you can get your maps quicker than ever before.

Not to be outdone in the game of ultimate convenience, Quick Maps for Chrome is an add-on program that allows you to browse maps while you are on another website. For instance, if you’re shopping on Craigslist or eBay and find something you really want to buy but it’s pickup only, you can simply hit a button on your browser to bring up a small maps window overtop of what you're already browsing. This feature puts finding locations in the “ridiculously easy” category.

Some Features of Quick Maps for Chrome

One feature of Quick Maps for Chrome that's really strong is the ability to bring a map up on an existing screen. Not that opening a new tab and searching a map separately takes a lot of time or anything, but you never realize how inconvenient something was until it becomes more convenient. This pop-up map feature works well with Windows 7 and with any Windows OS that’s running Chrome. In fact, it has much more to do with your version of Chrome than your OS, so as long as you have Chrome updated, you should be able to run the add-on.

Another cool feature of Quick Maps for Chrome is that you can also get your maps in a separate tab if you do not feel like staring at the pop-up. The ability to create a separate screen without having to close out the original map definitely cuts back on the annoyance factor.

If there is a major downside to this add-on, it is that it does not always load up properly. Some may cite the fact that Google Maps does not have all locations as the biggest drawback, but that’s an issue with Google in general and not Quick Maps in particular. For the program specifically, it might load a blank pop-up screen from time to time.
